Media Center for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, Android, Android TV and Fire TV
Support
Media Center brings the Plex and Jellyfin servers you already run together in one app. It ships with no content of its own, so most problems come down to the server, the account, or what a profile is allowed to see. Start with the section that describes you.
If you watch at home
- How do I get an account?
- Your household administrator creates it and invites you by email — the person who set up the media server. There is no sign-up inside the app, because an account without a server behind it would show an empty screen.
- How do I sign in on a TV?
- The same three ways on Apple TV, Android TV and Fire TV, and you can switch between them on the sign-in screen. Scan the QR code with your phone; ask for a one-time code by email; or choose “Sign in with email and password” if your administrator set a password for you. Typing on a remote is the slowest of the three, which is why the QR code comes first.
- The app signed me in but there is nothing to watch
- The app has no catalog of its own — everything you see comes from your household's own media server. If it is empty or unreachable, ask your administrator to check the source.
- Something will not play
- Usually the media server is unreachable from where you are, or it is not served over HTTPS. Your administrator can confirm both. If other titles play and one does not, tell them which one.
- Why can my profile not see everything?
- A kids profile shows only the categories your administrator has allowed, and a household only has the sections its administrator pointed at a source. Both are their settings to change.
- Which devices is the app on?
- iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac from the App Store; Android phones, tablets and Android TV from Google Play; Fire TV from the Amazon Appstore. It is one account and one household everywhere — sign in on a second device and your profiles, your list and your place in a title are already there.
- Where are the terms and the privacy policy in the app?
- Under Settings, in the Legal section. On a phone or tablet the rows open this site in your browser; on a TV they show the address to type, since a television has no browser worth reading a policy in.
If you run the server
You are the administrator: you connect the media server, invite the household, and decide what a kids profile can see. Everything below is done from the admin dashboard.
- A household says nothing plays
- Check the source's Base URL is https://. The apps are HTTPS-only and ship no App Transport Security exception, so a plaintext server saves without complaint and then refuses to play on every device. The Base URL field warns you if it is not secure.
- Channels play for you but not for a household
- Two things gate it: whether that household has a channel source assigned under Households, and the profile's mode — a kids profile only sees the channel categories allowed under Kids.
- A channel or title refuses to start, with no error
- Some CDNs answer only to one exact User-Agent. Set it in the source's Stream playback section; leave it empty and the apps send their own identity. Nothing in the app substitutes a value for it.
- Artwork, descriptions or subtitles are missing
- Those come from your own TMDB, OpenSubtitles and SubDL accounts under Integrations. A provider you have not finished configuring is simply switched off — the feature disappears rather than failing.
- A household member cannot sign in on a TV
- A password only exists if you set one for them under Households — adding a member sets it and editing resets it, and no email is sent either way. Otherwise they use the QR code or an emailed code. This is identical on Apple TV, Android TV and Fire TV.
- Someone needs their account or viewing history deleted
- Removing a household member under Households deletes the account, its profiles and their history. For your own administrator account, email us and we will delete it.
Contact us
Email support@webbits.dev. Tell us what was happening, which device it happened on — an iPhone, an Apple TV, an Android phone, an Android TV or a Fire TV Stick — and roughly when. Crash reports are keyed by time, so a timestamp is worth more to us than a screenshot.
For anything about personal data — what we hold, corrections, deletion — see the privacy policy or write to privacy-mediacenter@webbits.dev.
Never send us a password, a sign-in code, or the credentials for your media server. We do not need them and we will not ask for them.
